After-Hours Paging Guidelines

If you have an "urgent emergency" and need to talk to us either after hours or early in the morning before 9a.m., call the answering service and ask them to page us.

Please reserve early morning pages for urgent emergencies since we're usually making hospital rounds or attending meetings between 7:30 and 9:00 a.m. If you call after 5:00 p.m. on Mon through Thur., after 4:00p.m. on Fri., after 11A.M. on Saturday, or between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. on weekdays, you will reach the answering service who will relay your phone number to us by pager. Please have patience if the answering service is busy and needs to put you on hold for a minute or two. Also, it is helpful if you have a 24 hour pharmacy number available when we call you back. We usually return pages within 15-30 minutes.

On rare occassion, our paging devices may malfunction. Therefore, we ask that if you do not get a call back promptly(between 15-30 minutes), please call the service back and verify that they have the correct phone number and ask them to page us again. If there is still not a prompt response, then call a third time and ask the answering service to call us at home. Again, we expect that this type of situation would be very rare.
